ItineraryDay 1 - Fly From Home City to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Welcome to the bustling city of Rio de Janeiro! Transfer to your hotel, which is just steps from famous Copacabana Beach, and freshen up before joining your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2 - Rio De Janiero
On a city tour this morning, visit iconic Sugar Loaf Mountain. Take the cable car to the mid-way station on Urca Mountain with its beautiful gardens and lookout points. From there travel to 1300 ft above sea level to the peak of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy spectacular views! The tour continues into downtown Rio, where you will visit the Selaron steps and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Then, stop at the most traditional restaurant in the city for lunch, open since 1894. Return to the hotel where the rest of the day is free to explore on your own.
Day 3 - Rio De Janiero
Today’s city tour visits Rio’s most famous landmark, the “Corcovado Mountain” with the statue of Christ the Redeemer. Set right in the Tijuca Rainforest National Park (the largest urban park in the world), which is in the heart of Rio. A cogwheel train takes you up – passing lovely parts of the forest allowing panoramic views of the city. At the top, you reach Christ the Redeemer, and the most marvelous views of the city. Day 4 - Rio De Janeiro to Iguassu Falls
This morning, embark on a delightful schooner cruise over Guanabara Bay. You will have the opportunity to see Rio from another angle, passing city highlights such as the Villegaignon Island Fortress, the beach districts that surround the bay and Sugar Loaf Mountain. View São João Fortress which marks the entrance of Guanabara Bay and Santa Cruz Fortress, built in 1555 to protect the harbour from eventual invaders. Also see Rio Niterói Bridge and the Contemporary Art Museum. After 2 hours of navigation, travel to the city of Samba, to learn about one of Brazil’s biggest passions, Carnival! A guided tour of the warehouse of Acadêmicos da Grande Rio – one of the leading samba schools in the city, with an explanatory panel presentation. Have your photos taken while dressed up in traditional costumes! Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls.
Day 5 – Iguassu Falls
Visit the marvelous Brazilian falls by walking through the wooden footbridges elevated over the river. Admire a series of astonishing cascades, while enjoying the panoramic views from the observation deck. Following an included lunch inside the park, explore the Birds Park, situated on 4 hectares of native sub-tropical forest. View over 500 birds, both indigenous and from other continents, in their natural surroundings from 8-meter-high forest aviaries. Continuing our journey into the Macuco Jungle, embark in open jeep-towed wagons for a ride along a trail. Watch for wild animals that occasionally cross the trail as well as orchids, palm trees and centenarian trees. If you’re up to it, join your guide for a 600 m hike on a trail that leads to a waterfall. Next, board boats that travel up-river passing the canyon facing the rapids where you can appreciate the scenery. Rainbows, blue sky, mist, and water punctuate the spectacle that the falls baptized “The Three Musketeers”. Here the captain maneuvers the boat close enough to provide you with a quick and refreshing shower.
Day 6 - Iguassu Falls to Buenos Aires, Argentina
Travel to the Argentina National Park and the Iguazu National Park entrance. Board a train that will take you to the upper falls circuit and the Devil’s Throat before touring the lower catwalks. The Falls will be seen up close allowing for the detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna, as well as the Falls that are literally at the reach of one’s hand. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires.
Day 7 - Buenos Aires
Wake up in beautiful Buenos Aires, the “Paris of South America”, with Old World colonial architecture, and flavorful food! This morning’s city tour takes you into the city center, to famous 9 de Julio Avenue, where you will see the Obelisk and arrive at the main square, Plaza de Mayo. Continuing into the suburbs, pass by San Telmo, the old district of Tango, then onto the Caminito, a multi-colored street museum in the La Boca neighborhood, filled with lively markets and restaurants hosting live folk dancing and tango shows. The tour will end in the modern neighbourhood of Puerto Madero, completely restored since 1990, and the widest and most varied gastronomic area of Buenos Aires. This evening, enjoy a dinner of typical foods and wines, and an unforgettable time at a Tango show. The classic orchestra revives the original styles with melancholic rhythms reminiscent of the 1940’s.
Day 8 – Buenos Aires
Our next stop in Argentina will be at the city of Tigre for the Tigre River Tour, the gateway to the Paraná River Delta, a 14,000 sq. km natural wonder. It encompasses thousands of luscious green islands filled with autochthonous species. Sailing the exotic channels of the Delta, enjoy a fascinating nautical experience. Back in Tigre, visit the elegant Paseo Victorica, where the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts is housed. Lunch is enjoyed at a local restaurant and the rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 9 - Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
Get an early start with a transfer to the airport for your flight to Ushuaia. The capital of Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego province sits on a bay backed by the snow-capped mountains of Martial Glacier, to the north. Although Ushuaia claims to be the world's southernmost city, two other Chilean cities also lay claim to this dubious title. Board your base camp at sea, MS Roald Amundsen, where you will meet the Expedition team and tour the ship. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening. Your expedition has officially begun!
Day 10 - Drake Passage
It takes two days of sailing to reach Antarctica. This is the perfect amount of time to relax and prepare for the adventures ahead. The Expedition team will launch a series of insightful lectures at the Science Center. They are walking, talking, treasure troves of fascinating stories and information. Learn about what to do if a curious penguin or seal comes to close to you, and the importance of wearing sterilized rubber boots during your landings and much more!
Day 11 – Drake Passage

Day 12 – Antarctica
We have entered another world, one devoid of human influence, welcome to The Seventh Continent! Antarctica is a gorgeous world sealed by pristine snow and ice with polar landscapes as far as your eye can see! It is a haven for wildlife like whales, penguins, and seals. Enjoy five days to take in every magical moment. Gaze at distant white mountains during a stroll along shore or let a playful pair of seals delight you as they surface near your small boat. Or hit the jackpot, weather permitting, to join optional activities such as kayaking, snowshoeing, or even camping. The Expedition Team will provide ongoing lectures, be it on board the ship, ashore during landings, or even when navigating through icebergs and ice floes on cruises in small boats. Their insights will provide invaluable information throughout your journey, enhancing your sense of discovery hundredfold.
DAY 13-16 – ANTARCTICA

Day 17-18 – Drake Passage
Saying goodbye to Antarctica is hard, but as the ship points northward once again, take some time to sort through your breathtaking photos, perhaps join a workshop, and visit the Science Center, brimming with activity. The Expedition Team will be offering workshops to ready you for the Falkland Islands.
Day 19-21 - The Falklands Islands
Beauty in its purest form, the remote Falkland Islands is an archipelago split between two main islands, East and West Falkland and nearly 800 smaller islands. Your three days of exploration here, along with each day’s landing sites, will be determined by local weather conditions. Enjoy grassy hills, blooming wildflowers, stunning white-sand beaches, and turquoise waters! For the first time in more than a week you’ll spot signs of civilization in the family-owned farms scattered along the island. Of course, you’ll still come across several thousand penguins while attempting to view their colonies, which often have families of fur seals sprinkled among them.
Day 22 – At Sea
As your expedition is approaching its end, make sure to enjoy your last day at sea. Share memories with the new friends you made during your journey, swap adventure stories with the Expedition Team or simply relax on deck watching the waves and reliving fond memories of the voyage’s many highlights
Day 23 - Ushuaia to Buenos Aires and home
After three weeks of exploring South America and the Seventh Continent, bid farewell to your base camp at sea and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires and onward to your home city.
