ItineraryDay 1 – Home City to Devil's Lake, ND
Our adventure begins with pick ups in Saskatoon and Regina and anywhere along the route.
Day 2 – Devil's Lake to Sioux City, IA
Tour the Redlin Art Center, a tribute to artist Terry Redlin, at Watertown, SD. Be inspired by art and natural beauty in the gallery and on the grounds. Conservation Park designed by Terry himself features 30 acres of park and wetlands considered “Redlin’s living painting”. The park surrounds the massive 52,000-square-foot brick building featuring a gray, black and white interior finish with Redlin’s original oil paintings as the focal point.
Day 3 – Sioux City to St. Joseph, MO
Board the tram and experience a guided tour of Lauritzen Gardens, Omaha’s Botanical Center in the picturesque riverfront hills. The 100-acre property features an arboretum and bird sanctuary, children’s garden, rose garden, and model railroad garden just to name a few. More than 100 species of birds and 57 species of butterflies have been spotted in the garden. Nature’s patterns and colours at its best! WestWorld Tours will provide lunch to enjoy at the gardens.
Arrive at St. Joseph, MO, and delve into history to learn about the Pony Express, a mail service (from 1860 to 1861) where relays of men riding horses carried saddlebags of mail across a 3,219 km trail covering more than 402 km in a 24-hour day. Explore the Pony Express Museum featuring the restored and renovated stables, as well as interactive and educational exhibits.
After you check in to your hotel at St. Joseph there is free time for a leisurely supper and a relaxing evening.
Day 4 – St Joseph to Hamilton, MO And Back
Quilters, this is the pièce de résistance - the day you have waited for! Hamilton is a quilter’s paradise with 12 themed quilt shops and the Main Shop at the Missouri Star Quilt Company. Check out the patterns, Missouri Star branded fabric and thread, as well as the souvenirs. Learn more about your craft and plan your next quilting project.
Attend a two-hour Trunk Show upon arrival. Let this ultimate quilter experience fuel your creativity! After the show, enjoy your free time. Find a great place to have lunch and browse the shops.
Free time in the evening to relax after your busy day.
Day 5 – St Joseph to Hamilton And Back
Heading back to Hamilton for more shopping or perhaps take in the Missouri Quilt Museum! Today, there will be a Meet and Greet with Jenny Doan or a guest speaker such as Courtenay Hughes or Edie McGinnis.
Day 6 – St. Joseph to Watertown, SD
Discover the world-famous historic Village of Boys Town on this guided tour of the national headquarters and largest child-care facility in Nebraska. Created by Father Edward Joseph Flanagan in 1921, Boys Town offers a safe-haven for children removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. They are provided with care and compassion and integrated into a family unit where they’re taught social and independent living skills to help them succeed.
Enjoy the WestWorld Tours Farewell Dinner and reminisce about the fun and lasting memories you’ve made along the way.
Day 7 – Watertown, SD to Minot, ND
Travel from Watertown to Minot.
Day 8 – Minot, ND to Home City
Almost home! Saying good bye to your fellow quilters and planning your next quilting tour!
